Land Pooling Policy Amended in Punjab

To create a land bank for urban projects at the proposed Aero City project in Greater Mohali Development Authority (GMADA) Punjab cabinet on Thursday approved the amendments in their land pooling policy, 2013.

The government of Punjab has to develop a Land pooling of 4,000 acres in the Aero City. There were frequent protests from farmers because government was not compensating them according to the current prices. After the amendment, the more area of commercial projects will be given to the land owners if they want compensation in terms of land, despite of the fact that they are getting 15percent compensation in cash from the government.

Narang Panel Report

The cabinet agreed with the Justice Narang Commission report with the Action Taken Report by the department in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The Narang commission was set up to check the allegations of dispute of interest against former minister Rana Gurjit Singh. The report will be presented in the current session.

Loan waiver for reserved category

The cabinet approved the presentation of the budget of the government of Punjab for the year 2018-19. The loan will be waived off of the Scheduled Castes for up to Rs 50,000 out of 15,890 people. The data was taken from Punjab Scheduled castes land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCLDFC). An amount of Rs 52crores would be waived off.

SC Commission Pruned

The cabinet approved the reduction of unofficial members of the SC commission from 10 to 3 and this decision was reversed after SAD-BJP government just before few months of the last assembly elections.
