New Delhi: The housing and urban affairs ministry assured housing societies and developers on Friday to expedite the notification on land pooling policy so that construction of houses can start soon to meet growing demand in the capital.
The delegation of Federation of Housing Societies and Developers, which operates in Delhi through land pooling policy , told new housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri that Delhi Development Authority has been sitting over the final notification for more than four months without even giving any reason.
It said that operationalsiing the policy will trigger construction activity in a big way and meet the demandsupply gap for residential and institutional spaces in Delhi.
“Minister told the delegation that secretary of ministry and vice-chairman of DDA are on an official visit abroad and he will have it looked into soon after their return,“ a ministry official said.
Land pooling policy is expected to release over 40,000 acres of land in the national capital, which in turn will pave way for construction of 14.5 lakh affordable houses in Delhi.
